What's Happening in Orlando, FL…

Anniversary and workshop mark the beginning of June in Orlando

Several special events are coming up in the Orlando area at the beginning of June, and it’s likely that flyer printing services are being used to announce these events to the communities in the area.

The South Lake County Historical Society will be holding a D-Day remembrance at the Clermont Historic Village on June 7th. This year is the 70th anniversary of the historic event, in which the Allied forces landed on the beaches of Normandy, France, during the Second World War, and launched their invasion of Europe. At the memorial, all veterans of World War II will be honored, particularly those who were part of the invasion. Veterans in attendance will be able to tell their stories, and refreshments including hot dogs, soda, and apple pie will be offered.

The Clermont Historic Village is a cooperative effort of the South Lake County Historical Society and the City of Clermont; it includes several buildings, which have been relocated to one area of the city, that are reflective of the times during which they played an important role.

In addition to the D-Day memorial, a grant writers’ workshop will be held on June 12th by the Lake Sumter Grantsmanship Network at the Lake County Agricultural Center in Tavares. The workshop will be interactive and information will be provided on new tips in grant writing by various speakers. There will also be opportunities to exchange and share grants that some of the largest funders in the nation offer.
