Ocoee program to provide peek into local law enforcement
The City of Ocoee Police and Fire Departments will soon be hosting a course designed to both enhance public safety and build bridges between citizens and their local law enforcement professionals, and the public is invited to participate.
The Public Safety academy, which is open to those who are age 18 years of age or older who have no criminal record, will cover a variety of topics related to public safety. Subjects such as crime scene investigation, traffic enforcement, evidence collection, accident response, firearms safety, crime prevention and domestic violence will be discussed, and there will also be an opportunity to engage in hands-on learning. A catalog printing company is able to supply bound copies of educational materials for students who register for a learning opportunity such as this.
The instruction will be split between the local fire station and police headquarters, and will run for a period of ten weeks. The course is funded through the support of the community, and it is free to participate. Those who take part will be eligible to engage in one ride along session with the police, and at the conclusion of the program, there will be a graduation banquet for all the students and instructors.
The next session of the academy will be held starting August 3rd, and it will run until October 12th. Anyone who would like to register can do so through the community’s website.
