A proposal has been pitched to the Miami-Dade County Commission that, if accepted, would see the construction of a new Royal Caribbean cruise line terminal in Miami.
According to the Miami Herald, the idea behind the new facility came about because of a partnership that has recently been formed between the country and the cruise line.
The new terminal, which would be named Terminal A, would be capable of accommodating even the line’s huge Oasis class ships, and would be open for business in the latter portion of 2018. Its center portion would be of angular glass, and the facility would include parking spaces for nearly 1,000 vehicles. Broadway Malyan, which is an architecture firm based in England, has already been selected to undertake the design for the project.
According to the company, the goal is to create something that would be a dynamic and beautiful addition to the landscape of PortMiami. Graphic design can be used to produced largescale renditions of the artists’ concept drawings of what the final appearance of a structure like this will look like. These can be used during press conferences and other events.
Should the county give its approval for the construction of the terminal to go ahead, it could add as much as $500m to the local economy and create as many as 4,000 jobs. It would be Royal Caribbean's largest cruise port.
