Miami lighthouse park to offer stargazing

Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park in Key Biscayne, a barrier island off the coast of Miami, will offer the Bill Baggs Stargazing event this January. The event is ideal for any amateur astronomers interested in exploring the night skies.

Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park is home to the historic 1825 Cape Florida Lighthouse, which offers impressive views of the Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Visitors can explore the park grounds on bicycle and foot or by kayak or boat. There are guided tours of the lighthouse and keeper’s cottage, or visitors can enjoy the beautiful sands of the island’s shores at various beach access points. The park also offers special after-hours events, such as the stargazing event next month.

Organized by the Southern Cross Astronomical Society, guest astronomers Carlos Garcia and Russell Harcha will lead the event. Garcia will utilize visual telescopes and smart scopes, and Harcha will bring along a Dobsonian reflector that he built in 1990. Attendees will be able to observe samples of astrophotography and learn tools and techniques to create such images.

Brochures are often used to transmit information about outdoor activities in an effective manner, and local businesses offering brochure printing services may help event organizers needing these printed in bulk.

The stargazing event is scheduled for January 14 from 7:45 pm to 9:00 pm. Bill Baggs State Park is located at 1200 Crandon Boulevard, Key Biscayne, Miami.
