Popular Miami book festival to go virtual

Miami bookworms should note that the 39th Annual Miami Book Fair will happen virtually this November.

The Miami Book Fair, hosted by Miami-Dade College, is a literary festival celebrating the love of Books. It attracts thousands of attendees each year, and all corners of the publishing world from authors to book retailers are represented. Normally, the event takes place on the campus of Miami-Dade College, but it has been moved online this year due to the pandemic.

In past years, the streets would be filled with book-related exhibitions hosting lectures, workshops, and retail vendors for attendees to explore. Now, with the fair moved online, organizers are working to translate that same level of engagement to an interactive digital platform. For example, instead of one-on-one author interviews, the talks will be produced segments that will stream online for viewers to watch for free. Organizers of such events often employ the help of graphic design artists to get their website ready for a digital audience.

The book fair will go live on Saturday, November 15 through Sunday, November 22. Viewers can visit the website to sign up for email updates and to join the festivities when the time arrives. Details about participating authors and favorite programs, such as Children's Alley and Evenings with Comics, will be announced on the website and through these emails.
