Miami workshop to teach squash planting

This July, the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Miami will host the Grow & Compete: Squash Planting Workshop for anyone interested in learning more about growing their own squash plants.

The squash planting workshop will be taught by Tatiana Castro who leads Teachings by Tatiana, a business in which she combines hands-on learning with cultural awareness and uses her experience in museum and garden education to help people connect with nature. The squash class will be a hands-on learning experience that is designed to appeal to novices and experienced gardeners alike.

Attendees will learn expert tips on how to plant and grow squash and pumpkins that belong to the Cucurbita genus. Live demonstrations of planting the squash seeds will teach participants about the best practices related to healthy squash plants. Attendees will also be able to submit their plants in the Halloween Squash Competition after the plants have reached maturity in the fall. All supplies including seeds will be provided.
