Miami festival to celebrate local river

The Miami River has long been one of the focal points of the local landscape, and an event has been planned that will celebrate the role it plays in the community’s culture, as well as its wildlife and the natural environment.

The Miami Riverday Festival, which is hosted by the Miami River Commission each year, will offer something for people of all ages. There will be live music, boat tours of the waterway and much more. Food and beverages will be available, and there will be activities for children as well. Historic re-enactors will be on site, and displays that give information about the natural history of the river will also be set up so that the public can gain a deeper appreciation of the role the river plays. It’s been planned to be family friendly, and the organizers encourage as many of the area’s residents come out as possible to discover more about this well known community landmark. Maps of the river and the parks and trails that can be found on its banks can be produced for an event such as this by a printing services company.

All of this will be taking place, on a free of charge basis, in Lummus Park, which is located in the city’s downtown core. It’s been planned for April 1st from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm, and further information about the festivities can be found by visiting the Greater Miami and the Beaches website.
