Miami company to implement business-themed rail program

Passenger Rail project All Aboard has contracted Miami-based Vailon Group to ensure that small businesses and subcontractors get their chance to work on MiamiCentral, the flagship terminal for All Aboard Florida.

All Aboard has hired Vailon to carry out its Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program for its Miami-Dade construction. Vailon will connect small companies with the three million square foot station complex’s construction manager, Suffolk Construction.

In a news release, Scott Sanders, Executive Vice President of Development and Construction for All Aboard Florida, said:

“Our partnership with The Vailon Group will focus on opening up more opportunities and making them more accessible for residents and small-business owners in our community.”

When the All Aboard Florida project is completed, will connect Miami and Orlando with stations in Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. The first two years of construction could provide 457 jobs.

Once opened, an anticipated 408 positions would be available. Additionally, it will provide an overall boost to the small business community providing goods and services to the new station, such as Stationery printers who will supply the paper products.

According to The Washington Economics Group, which conducted a study, the Miami station is projected to have an economic impact of $1.3bn and generate labor income of $51.4m between 2014 and 2021. The station will encompass retail, office, residential, and restaurant space.
