The GFWC Clearwater Community Woman’s Club in the Clearwater-Largo, Florida community recently named seven non-profit organizations as Daisy Award winners. The winners received grants of $1,000 each at the Club’s 41st annual Daisy Fashion Show that it holds at the Belleair Country Club. The Woman’s Clun no doubt used flyer printing to make the public aware of the Daisy Award winners and their contributions to the community.
To qualify for the award, each non-profit was required to fill out a grant application that would outline how they would use the funds and submit it for review. Once the project that used the funds was completed, a follow-up report would also need to be filled out.
Among the award winners were Bridging the Achievement Gap, the College Fund of Pinellas County, the Homeless Emergency Project and Faith, Hope and Determination, Inc.
Bridging the Achievement Gap offers high school students in Pinellas County tutorial help in homework and preparation for the FCAT and SAT/ACT examinations. The College Fund of Pinellas County supplements college scholarships for qualified students supports students in their programs with personalized on-going counseling and other services.
The goal of the non-profit Faith, Hope and Determination, Inc. is to make the minority community more aware of how urgently stem cell and new bone marrow donors are needed. Food, clothing, housing and other support services are provided by the Homeless Emergency Project to homeless and low-income families so that they can improve their quality of life and obtain self-sufficiency.
