Restaurants donates proceeds of sales for veterans

The seven Southwest Florida restaurants of Culver’s, including the one in Largo, will be holding a Day of Giving fundraiser to support Collier County Honor Flight later this week.

This is a non-profit organization that honors the veterans on the United States by transporting them to Washington, D.C., so they can visit their memorials and pay respect to their fellow vets.

On Tuesday, October 21, 10 per cent of the sales of the day will go to the organization, so that veterans of World War II and the Korean War and those who may be terminally ill can see and reflect those memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices. Poster printing may be a primary form the restaurant is using to get the word out about its charitable efforts on that day.

Culver’s is a family-style restaurant serving its signature ButterBurger, fresh frozen custard, soups, salads, and sandwiches.

The year 1961 was when the restaurant got its start in Sauk City, Wisconsin. George and Ruth Culver bought their first restaurant, with George having the culinary skills and Ruth being focused on customer service. Their children served in the restaurant and learned about hospitality and cooking good food to order. In 1984, Lea and Craig Culver took over the business, making Culver’s the known brand that it is today.
