Largo gardens to host festive lights

Holiday Lights in the Garden is currently underway at the Florida Botanical Gardens in Largo.

There will be one million twinkling LED lights in a large assortment of colors. There will also be lighted figures and vibrant laser lights as well as the new Majeed Discovery Garden.

The event also includes a market with local vendors, a gift and plant sale, with a wide variety of crafts and plants. There is also seasonal food and non-alcoholic hot and cold beverages for purchase at the Palm Pavilion, live entertainment, and activities that are family friendly.

The director of the Florida Botanical Gardens, Emily Goot, said that this is a tradition that is one of the most cherished in Pinellas County and expressed her thrill to invite the community to the gardens for another season of holiday festivities.

Sponsors of the Holiday Lights include Pinellas County, FLBG Foundation, Majeed Foundation, Tampa Bay Tines, and Anona United Methodist Church, among others.

This is a fundraising event for the botanical gardens such that there is a suggested donation of $10 per person to see the lights and children under 12 years old are free. Such seasonal events and their fundraising efforts are often promoted throughout a community with poster printing.

The lights are every night from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. through Saturday January 4.
