The SPCA Tampa Bay, headquartered in Largo on a 10-acre campus, recently welcomed Tara Yurkshat as its chief operating officer.
In her new role at the shelter , Yurkshat will supervise the running of all resources, procedures, and programs for the animals it houses. Veterinary care at the shelter, transfers between other animal welfare rescue organizations, and animal adoption and housing are some of programs SPCA Tampa Bay offers.
The organization describes its staff as showing “humanimality” in the way it works to bring people and animals together. The promotion of such services and the addition of new staff to an organization can be publicized through flyer printing.
Yurkshat has over 20 years’ experience in the animal welfare industry, specifically in its operations, including fundraising, project management, strategic planning, and oversight of budgets. CEO of SPCA Tampa Bay, Martha Boden, said that this experience will benefit the animals in the community and will help the organization to grow to better serve the community.
Yurkshat’s previous work experience includes serving as the vice president of operations for animal welfare at Houston SPCA and the director of operations for an animal shelter in Denver, Colorado, Dumb Friends League. She has also been the executive director of the Woodford Humane Society in Versailles, Kentucky, and redesigned its model of operations.
