Lakeland university on way to perfect season

Last Thursday, February 2, the Southeastern University women's basketball team went against Thomas University and emerged victorious.

Nearly 500 fans of the Lakeland university team witnessed the win at The Furnace on Thursday. The Fire are ranked seventh in the conference tournament and are on their way to a perfect season with a 20-0 record. They have five more games to get through if they are to achieve the first undefeated season in the history of the program.

The team beat the Thomas Nighthawks with a final score of 78-51. Team member Alyssa Ramos commented that the team is highly motivated and she believes the win should have been more comfortable.

Southeastern had trouble getting started in the game, but made up for it with their defense. They led the Night Hawks by 16 points at halftime. According to Tim Hays, Southeastern's head coach, the team knows when it needs to work hardest during a game even when carrying a substantial lead. He said the women understand winning tactics and use them in each game.

If Southeastern wins the title for the regular season, which is all but assured, they will have the pleasure of hosting The Sun Conference tournament. If the team was to achieve a perfect season, the university may want to have commemorative Banners printed to mark the occasion.
