Lakeland takes on Fort Myers

On June 2, the Lakeland Flying Tigers took on the Fort Myers Miracle and won with a final score of 9-2.

The local baseball teams played at Joker Marchant Stadium on Publix Field. Lakeland was scoreless until the end of the 7th inning. Fort Myers had two runs. The only players that had gotten on base were Kody Clemens in the first inning AJ Simcox in the second inning.

In the last two innings, Lakeland managed seven hits and nine runs. Brady Pollicelli made it to first base on his own and to second at the next batting with the help of Clemens. Nick Ames brought all three of them home with a line-drive. Ames said his goal was to bring one man home but the first pitch was perfect and he took his chance. This was the second home run for him as part of the Class A Advanced Lakeland team.

Simcox hit a single but was able to steal second. Colby Bortles and Dylan Rosa loaded the bases. Fort Myers was able to out Simcox but Luke Sherley brought Rosa home for an additional run. The score was soon 4-2, and then 6-2 with a grounded double and 8-2 with a hit deep into the outfield. Clemens came back to hit a ball deep into right field and bring home one more runner.
