Lakeland festival to get kids excited about reading

This April, the Lakeland World of Reading Festival will take place in Barnett Park and will give families a chance to explore literature with their young children.

Every year, the Junior League of Greater Lakeland organizes and hosts the book festival for the community. The Junior League is a non-profit women’s organization of women dedicated to developing women’s potential around the world, promoting the overall wellness of women and children, and improving the whole community.

The reading festival is designed to get children interested in reading and the wide world of Books. The main attraction will be the Spotlight Book Tents, which will showcase a different book or topic. Each tent will feature a different activity or craft related to each topic, making each story come alive. After visiting each tent, the children will receive a stamp in their passport book and will be able to pick out their favorite book from one of the tents. Other activities include face painting and musical performances by Jack Hartmann.

Organizers of festivals focusing on paper crafts may visit local Print shops to help them prepare materials for the event.

The festival is scheduled for April 9 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Barnett Family Park is located at
730 E Orange Street. The book festival is free to attend.
