Parents in Lakeland have an opportunity to take their children out for a free educational outing in May.
Lakeland’s Florida Air Museum has announced its annual Kids Museum Day for mid-May. This event gives young people a chance to experience the history of American aviation with free admission to exhibit galleries, aircraft displays, bounce houses, local exhibitors, and more. Parents of toddlers can visit the Museum’s Discovery Zone for age-appropriate activities for little tykes, and older children can experiment with hands-on STEM activities as well as video games.
Dubbed as Florida’s “Official Aviation Museum and Education Center,” the Florida Air Museum contains a unique combination of many types of aircraft. Visitors will find classic designs from yesteryear, ultralight airplanes, jet fighters, and even warbirds from World War II. An attraction is the Red Baron Pizza Boeing-Stearman Model 75, once part of the Red Baron Pizza company’s aerobatic team. Over thirty-five original planes and models are on display within its walls. The Museum opened in 2006, and its campus is just south of the runways at Lakeland Linder International Airport.
The event will be held on Saturday, May 10, from 10am to 4pm. The address for the Florida Air Museum is 4075 James C. Ray Drive in Lakeland.
