The Avenue Apartments administrative assistant, Michael Lee, has estimated that the Lakeland complex will be ready for occupancy by the end of January or the start of February.
Lakeland will have 264 additional residential units at the 6720 S. Florida Ave location once finished. Each building will be four stories tall with elevators, and will contain apartments ranging in area from 733 to 1,389 square feet. The complex will also have a co-working lounge, a clubhouse totaling 4,800 square feet, and community spaces that are climate controlled. Rent will be between $997 and $1,486 per month.
Polk County Planning Commission first agreed to the project as ‘Village on the Avenue’, which was to be an apartment neighborhood and mixed-use property. According to the director of Polk County land development John Bohde, Avenue Apartments is part of an effort to increase apartment communities in the county and gives residents more options near S Florida Avenue and Polk Parkway.
NoBay Village opened in September and Highland City's Ariva Apartment Homes will open in early 2017. Polk County economic developer Jim DeGennaro says the area has been on the rise in the past 40 years with the ImperiaLakes golf course community. He predicts the area will only see more development in the future.
Developers need to get permission from Lakeland planning and development officials to build in the area. A poster printing company can help them win their approval.
