Lakeland live music event Rock for Paws will benefit the Florida SPCA with a show in the new year, having been postponed from its original date.
The headliner will be Lakeland rock band Smokepoint, which specializes in covers of both classic and current rock acts such as Mötley Crüe, The Weeknd, and Maroon 5. There will be food and drink available with concessions and shirts for sale, displaying the graphic design of the event. There will also be a raffle, a cash bar, and multiple places for guests to dance to the live music.
Tickets are $10 and are available for purchase on the Florida SPCA website. All proceeds go toward the care of rescued dogs and cats at the shelter. There is a 500 limit on tickets to adhere to social distancing guidelines.
Rock for Paws will take place in the Polk Theatre at 121 South Florida Avenue. For more information, call 863-682-7553 or visit the venue’s website.
Over 4,000 pets without homes find care and shelter at SPCA Florida. The organization also runs the McClurg Animal Medical Center, which the community relies on to provide vet care to 50,000 of its animals each year. SPCA in Florida is also located in Lakeland and serves the Polk County area. Adoptions are by appointment, where a maximum of three dogs can be met.
The plan is now to host the concert on January 30 from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Though in aid of dogs, pets should be left at home due to the noise and capacity of the event.
