Parents in Lakeland have an opportunity to enroll their children in an immersive nature day camp.
Polk’s Nature Discovery Center in Lakeland has announced a free summer camp for kids. The center is offering a free camp experience for participants ages 5 to 13. Please note that children are required to be five years old by September 1, 2025. These camp experiences are limited to one week for the summer.
Campers are placed in age-appropriate groups. Discovery Rangers (ages 5-7) will explore the outdoors through crafts, songs, games, and story time. The Investigators (ages 8-10) focus more on experimentation and hands-on research to uncover the hidden connections between our natural resources. The Explorers (ages 11-13) will investigate various outdoor skills and learn of nature’s role in our everyday lives.
Camp Discovery is sponsored by The Polk County Environmental Lands Program, which partners with local, state, and federal agencies, as well as local non-profit organizations. According to the Polk County website, each dollar it spends for land acquisition efforts brings in three dollars from those partnerships.
The event will be held from Tuesday, June 10 through Friday, June 13, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily. The address of Polk’s Nature Discovery Center is 4399 Winter Lake Road in Lakeland.
