The 42nd annual Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament will take place here in Jacksonville in mid-July. The 10-day event will feature five fishing tournaments and a festival.
Both amateur and professional anglers will be participating in the General Tournament at Sisters Creek’s Jim King Park and Boat Ramp. More than 300 boats will be fishing for cash amounting to a total pay-out of $252,000, and prizes amounting to over $160,000.
The Jr. Angler Offshore Tournament for anglers age 15 and under will take place on Saturday, July 23 from 7:30 am to 2:00 pm. Prizes will be awarded for the largest kingfish.
Jr. Angler Dock Tournament will take place Wednesday, July 20 from 10:30 am to noon at the Sisters Creek Marina. Prizes will go to the first, second, and third place winners according to the total length of all fish caught. Registration will be $10 per child and comes with a hot dog lunch, captain’s bag, and T-shirt sporting the event’s graphic design.
The tournament will also include a special fishing derby for children with down’s syndrome at Sisters Creek Park on July 13.
The Redfish Tournament will begin at safe light on July 16. Weigh-in will close at 2:00 pm.
Altogether, the event will run from July 14 to 23. A festival, including food, boat displays, exhibitors, and the Kingfish Boatique, will take place all during the event at the Sisters Creek Jim King Park and Boat Ramp, 8203 Heckscher Drive.
