The City of Jacksonville will host its American's 250th anniversary for two days in early July.
On the 3rd, Freedom Fest will be a free, family-oriented celebration sponsored by Supporting Partner Wounded Warrior Project and the City of Jacksonville’s Military and Veterans Affairs Department (MAVD). Music will be provided by Emily Mikus and Big Engine, Sal Gonzalez, Navy Pride and the Bold City Brass. There will be a patriotic music and light show, and the first 1000 guests will receive free apple pies. Activations will be located between Chart House and the Fountain along the Riverwalk. There will be plenty of beverages and food available for purchase.
Freedom Fest will take place from 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm at Friendship Fountain, 1015 Museum Circle.
On the 4th, the celebration will continue in downtown Jacksonville on Riverfront Plaza. Before the fireworks, attendees will be treated to local art, live music, food and family fun. Other activities will include balloon animals, face painting, a visit by the River City Readers Bookmobile and a JAMs student art exhibition.
Bold City Classics, Tobacco Road Band and Sal Gonzalez will provide the music from 4:30 pm to 8:45 pm. Remarks by city officials will begin at 8:45 pm followed by Lane Pittman singing the National Anthem.
At 9:00 pm the fireworks show will take place over St. Johns River.
