Jacksonville Symphony announces end-of-year performances

The Jacksonville Symphony will be closing out the year with three programs.

On December 17, 18, and 19, the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra will perform First Coast Nutcracker. This will be a full ballet with costumes and staging all under the baton of Daniel Wiley assistant conductor and JSYP Music Director. The ballet will take place in the Jim & Jan Moran Theater, Times Union Center for the Performing Arts, 300 Water Street.

Over the December 18 and 19 weekend, the 100-member Jacksonville Symphony Chorus, directed by Courtney Lewis, will sing the iconic Handel’s Messiah. Soloists will be soprano Mary Wilson, countertenor Jay Carter, tenor Thomas Cooley, and bass Hadleigh Adams. The performance will be in Robert E. Jacoby Symphony Hall at 300 Water Street, and are at 7:30 pm on the Saturday and 3:00 pm on the Sunday,

On New Year's Eve beginning at 9:00 pm, Associate Conductor Gonzalo Farias and guest artist Tony DeSare will ring in 2022 with New Year’s Eve: Rhapsody in Blue Eyes. This will be an evening of the best songs of Frank Sinatra and Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue.

After the performance there will be a New Year’s Eve bash with the Chris Thomas Band, champagne, and prime viewing for the fireworks. Tickets will be sold separately from the performance tickets and the premier tickets will include signature glass flutes etched with the symphony’s Logo Design. These two events will take place in Robert E. Jacoby Symphony Hall.
