Jacksonville orchestras will present holiday performances in December.
A free community Christmas Orchestra Concert is being planned for mid-December. The orchestra will present an evening of contemporary, jazz, tango and classical holiday music. The event will be Friday, December 18 from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Destination, 7341 Atlantic Boulevard.
Also, Jacksonville Symphony will have its annual Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestra’s Holiday Concert in Jacoby Symphony Hall 300 Water Street, on Monday, December 7, starting at 7:00 pm.
In Jacoby Symphony Hall once again on Saturday, December 12 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, December 13 at 3:00 pm, the Jacksonville Symphony presents Handel’s Messiah Suite. It features soloists Emily Birsan (soprano), Amanda Crider (mezzo-soprano), Eric Ferring (tenor), and David Kravitz (baritone). This will be an abridged performance, without the choral singing, ending with the “Hallelujah” chorus.
From December 17 to 20, under the baton of Associate Conductor, Gonzalo Farias, the Holiday Pops will take to the stage. The Douglas Anderson dancers and guest singers Erica Erica Gabriel and Brandon Michael Nase will help the orchestra celebrate the season. Evening performances will begin at 7:30 pm. Saturday and Sunday matinees will begin at 3:00 pm in Jacoby Hall.
As part of the Raymond James Coffee Series, a special Holiday Pops concert will be Friday, December 18 at 11:00 am at the Jim and Jan Moran Theater, 300 Water Street.
