Bee Friends Farm will be presenting its annual Jacksonville Honey Bee Festival in mid-August.
Over 60 vendors will be onsite at the Busy Bee Marketplace selling bee-related (also known as apiarian) items such as raw liquid honey, creamed honey, hand-poured beeswax candles, and specialty items like honey spoons, cut comb honey, roasted pecan honey, honey sticks and bee pollen granules.
A Bee a Kid Zone will have interactive experiences such as bee biology lessons, hands-on modules, planting activities, eco-friendly art and entertainment for the children, and informative sessions at the Honey Bee Education Annex. The Bee Friend Farm Honey Tasting Bar will allow guests to taste and buy Florida honey. Experts from the Jacksonville, Nassau County, and Clay County Beekeepers Associations will be on hand to answer apiarian questions.
Food Truck Alley will be filled with food trucks that will have food items for purchase. Speakers will be providing talks hourly on subjects such as the honey-making process, and the secret lives of bees.
General admission tickets will be $8 for adults, and free for children under 17.
Many festival attendees will be going to the Bee Friends Farm’s website before hand to purchase bright blue T-Shirts sporting the Florida Sweet as Honey graphic design, or black and gold drink koozies.
It will take place at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds, 510 Fairgrounds Place, on National Honey Bee Day, which is Saturday, August 19. The event runs from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
