Many Jacksonville runners will be turning out for the Tour de Pain coming in early August and the Summer Beach Run in late August, held by 1st Place Sports.
The Tour de Pain will be three races run during a 24-hour period.
Beginning at 6:00 pm on Friday August 9th, participants will begin their racing experience with a four-mile run over relatively fast flat course through Prominence Business Center.
A 5k Road Race, a competitive quick run beginning at James Weldon Johnson Park and going through local urban streets, will begin at 7:00 am Saturday, August 10th.
At 9:00 am, the Road Mile will offer heats for men and women in James Weldon Johnson Park. This will be an intense short race over a flat straight course to test endurance and speed.
All races will have medical support, water stations and plenty of spectators.
Proceeds from the runs will go to benefit local high school track and cross-country programs, summer camp scholarships for high school track and cross-country athletes and construction and maintenance of Aterro Recreation Park's Sunbeam Road three-mile running trail.
This will be Miller Lite Summer Series' second race between Run for Pies and the Summer Beach Run.
The Summer Beach Run 5 mile and 5k will take place at Jacksonville Beach beginning at 6:00 pm, August 24th. Swag will include technical tank tops sporting the event's graphic design, finisher medals, and an after-race pizza party with live band.
