The city of Miami Gardens, just a short distance from Hollywood, recently hosted its Science and Engineering Fair for the fifth consecutive year.
More than 800 members of the community, those who are enthusiastic about science and other supporters, attended the event to celebrate the students and their hard work. An awards ceremony held at the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex was the finale of the event. Flyer printing may have been used to create a piece with more information about the Fair, and who the top 10 winners were.
Councilman David Williams Jr. is the person responsible for establishing the Fair, which has become one of the most popular projects in the city. Due to the support from the sponsors of the event, it highlights those students who have enthusiasm and talent in the engineering and science fields.
The Councilman commented that he looks forward to the Fair every year, to see the passion and creativity that the students have put into their projects. He finds it most rewarding that there is such an interest in engineering, science, and technology, which he believes will go a long way towards their careers.
St. Thomas University donated cash prizes ranging from $150 to $700 to both students and parents of the top 15 finishers. A science presentation by the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science was the highlight of the event.
