Advances in science and technology continue to accelerate, and a well-known nonprofit is providing a way for girls in the Hollywood area to explore important science disciplines.
The Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida have announced STEMapalooza: -Ology Overload. This event gives school-age young women an opportunity to explore various disciplines and careers in science, such as geology, astronomy, biology, and other related fields. Participants will access a working, interactive science museum featuring interactive exhibits, hands-on activities, and teaching from real-life scientists.
Although sponsored by the Girl Scout organization, membership is not required to participate. Non-members wishing to join the Girl Scouts prior to the event can enjoy member pricing, as well as save on other Girl Scout programs for the remainder of the year. Girl Scout participants will receive an exclusive patch commemorating their participation. Events like this are often publicized using banner printing or poster printing.
STEM is an umbrella term used to describe science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and is a topic of focus within schools.
STEMapalooza will be held Saturday, August 23, from 6:00 to 9:30 PM. It will be held at the Museum of Discovery and Science, located at 401 Southwest 2nd Street in Fort Lauderdale. The early registration discount price is $40 for students and $30 for adults. This is not a drop-off event; girls must have an event-registered adult accompany them during the event.
