March of Dimes given boost by chef auction

The annual Signature Chefs Auction, recently held at the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa in Hollywood, raised $111,000 for the Broward Division of the March of Dimes. In addition to featuring leading chefs from the area, there was live entertainment and an auction.

Division president, Jason Delimitros, commented that the event was as successful as it was due to the efforts of corporate sponsors, donors, and volunteers who believe in the mission of the March of Dimes; that all babies should be born healthy.

He added that the programs the division has in the County enable mothers to get services and care so as to improve the health of their babies, and their own health at the same time. The March of Dimes enables every baby to receive a polio vaccine and inoculations against 14 other diseases. Therapy is administered for those babies whose lungs are not fully developed and newborns are screened for 31 diseases that can be inherited.

Event co-chairman, Bob Birdsong, said that $60,000 was raised by the event two years ago and more than $200,000 has been raised in the last two years.

The Broward Division of the March of Dimes is most likely using flyer printing and other printing services so that people can become have more information about its mission and either donate their time or money to its causes.
