A new music lab with 32 Yamaha LC3 keyboards was recently opened at the Hollywood Elementary School with a special event hosted by the PTA Board of Directors.
The PTA most likely turned to flyer printing to inform the community of the new lab and its benefits for the students.
In the lab, there is a state-of-the-art LC3 controller system. The teacher sits in the front of the class behind a master keyboard with a control panel and microphone headset. This is connected to each keyboard station at which the students sit. The students wear the same headset as the teacher so that he or she has the ability to monitor what is going on, and instruct the entire classroom as a whole or each student individually.
Kristi Huddleston, vice president of the PTA, said that it has been very exciting to bring this music technology to Hollywood Central Elementary. She added that music education is important and can make a difference in the life of a child.
Attendees at the opening ceremony included Peter Bober, Mayor of Hollywood, and several school board members from Broward County. There was a ribbon cutting ceremony with a live demonstration of the music lab. There were performances by the Hollywood Central Chorus and a folk band, The American Poets, which included two parents of the school’s students.
