Credit repair workshop offered in June

A workshop to help working families understand their credit score, and how to improve it, will be offered virtually next month.

Hosted by the Urban League of Broward County, the seminar is open to residents of Southern Florida, including Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, and Pompano Beach.

The Center for Working Families has enlisted local financial experts to share its advice on how to improve a credit score, managing family finances and how to budget accordingly, and understanding the financial products offered by the banks. The workshop will provide a safe space to discuss common financial challenges families face, and how to create a plan to overcome them. Attendees will also be encouraged to create a plan to achieve their long-term financial goals, including building assets.

In addition, the workshop will be used as an opportunity to provide orientation for the virtual Working Families Center. There will be opportunities available for free job training, with the goal of increasing the household income of those who participate.

The Urban League of Broward County was opened in 1975, and is focused on improving lives by offering education, work placements, healthcare, and housing opportunities for residents in need. Each year, over 14,000 people are assisted, with 2,187 residents given small business classes and homebuyers’ education provided to 1,340 members. Brochure printing may be used to provide information to the general public, about the organization’s many programs and services.

The Credit Repair Workshop will be offered several times next month: on Thursday, June 3 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM; Tuesday, June 8 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM; Monday, June 14 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and Monday, June 21 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. All sessions are offered free of charge over Zoom. Registration in advance on the Eventbrite website is required.
