Parents in Hialeah get a break thanks to the city.
When schools are closed in the Miami-Dade County Public School System, the Education and Community Services Division offers a number of camps during the year, ensuring schoolchildren are cared for during the closures. The camps are a convenience for parents, a treat for the youngsters and reasonably priced. When agencies develop programs like these, they might decide to work with brochure printing to create a mailer for parents outlining the program.
A variety of camps is offered, which will incorporate enrichment time, fitness activities, outside field trips, indoor field trips, outside activities, indoor activities, and arts and crafts. Others may also be available.
Parents are advised that snacks and lunches are not provided, and they will need to provide food for their children, unless they are advised differently.
Camps are also offered when schools are closed during Teacher Planning days. The camps are for working parents who need a safe place for their children. These “Kids’ Day Off” programs are available to children currently enrolled in MDCPS, grades Kindergarten through fifth.
An upcoming camp is scheduled for March 31 with registration available from March 17-26. Once the registration period ends, no further registrations will be accepted, and walk-ins are not allowed. The camps are held at the Goodlet Adult Center at 900 West 44th Place in Hialeah, from 8.00 am until 6.30 pm.
