County officials are asking for volunteers to help beautify a popular park.
Miami-Dade County Parks and Recreation is planning a Community Action Day at Gwen Cherry Park, which is about two miles from downtown Hialeah. Recreation officials are asking for people who love parks and are enthusiastic about nature to come out and help clean up and improve the park.
Volunteers will be picking up debris and litter from throughout the park. They will also be landscaping, painting, and mulching around the building in the park. People who join in the effort can take satisfaction in knowing they are contributing to a greener, healthier city. They will also learn about planting, mulching, and landscaping by taking part in these activities.
Taking part in the clean-up will also allow participants to meet people who share their interests and make lasting connections. Volunteer hours for community members and students are available for this activity. Volunteers under the age of 18 have to be linked to a parent’s or guardian’s account on Park Link.
Participants will directly contribute to enhanced park safety and aesthetics, a stronger sense of ownership and pride in the community, and a more welcoming, vibrant space for everyone to enjoy.
The Gwen Cherry Park clean-up is scheduled for April 29, from 9.00 am until 10.00 pm, and pre-registration is necessary. When they plan events like this, organizers can work with flyer printing to create instruction sheets for participants.
