The City of Sunshine Art Gallery will be hosting the exhibit "Dark Chocolate Japan" beginning this month and lasting until October.
The exhibition showcases the paintings of Carlos Aleman. His subject is the culture of Japan including manga, anime, samurai and cosplay. It also includes the concept of mono no aware (empathy towards things). The genre is a combination of pop surrealism and realism. The artist uses "dark chocolate" acrylic paints to create his works of art.
The opening reception will take place on the second day of the exhibition. Admission is free and guests can either dress casually, in a kimono or as their favorite anime or manga character. The artist will be on hand to meet those in attendance.
The City of Sunshine Art Gallery is open from Tuesday through Saturday; hours are 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM on Friday, Saturday and Tuesday and from 12:00 - 7:00 PM on Wednesday and Thursday. Admission is free.
Flyer printing companies are often hired to provide advertising materials to spread word of events such as this to nearby communities like Coral Springs.
