Bavarian treats and German fare will be featured in Coral Spring’s free annual Oktoberfest coming in mid-October.
Although a lot of the entertainment and activities are still in the organizing stage, the four main contests are already on the schedule. The spelling bee is slated for 5:00 pm, and the Stein Race for contestants over 21 will begin at 7:00 pm. Yodeling (youth and adult divisions) will begin at 8:00 pm and the Stein Holding competition (again only for those over 21) will begin at 9:00 pm.
The event will begin with a Keg Tapping Ceremony in the beer garden. The garden will be serving German wines and Bavarian beers. Beer steins imprinted with the Stein Sponsor logo design will be for sale. A kinder area will have family-friendly activities and games, and some sponsors will host arts and crafts stations.
The Musik Sponsor needs to get its logo design to the event organizers as soon as possible to be included in the entryway and the main stage banner printing.
A Selfie-Spot will be a photo opportunity area where attendees may take custom selfies. Families that get their pictures taken at events such as this often take the pictures to local Print shops to be added to family Calendars and newsletters.
This year’s Oktoberfest will be from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm Saturday, October 15th on the City Hall Lawn, 9500 W. Sample Road.
