Broward County supports children with virtual walk

2021 Steps for SOS Children’s Villages 5K Virtual Run/Walk will take place here in Broward County in mid-May.

Since this will be a virtual event, participants here in Coral Springs may choose their running locations and form their own groups, or run individually during the two and a half hours.

Registration will be free, and participants are encouraged to raise funds. Commemorative medals will go to those raising at least $50. Those that raise at least $100 will also receive Steps for SOS T-Shirts sporting this year’s graphic design. Those individuals and teams raising at least $500 will receive other awards and incentives. The goal for this year is $90,000.

Awards will also go to the top three individual and team fundraisers, the top recruiter, most spirited, and event day champion. Awards will be announced on Facebook Live on event day and will remain on Facebook throughout the campaign.

Proceeds from the event will go to SOS Children’s Villages, a foster care community. Their focus is to keep neglected or abandoned brothers and sisters together.

2021 Steps for SOS Villages will also offer virtual run kick-off events for larger teams and corporate partners that participate in their own runs for SOS Villages throughout the summer.

Steps for SOS Virtual 5K Run/Walk will be Saturday, May 15. The opening ceremony will take place on Facebook at 8:00 am. Results will be available Sunday, May 16 at 10:30 am.
