Chocolate, roses and dinner are among the more traditional ways to celebrate Valentine's Day, but Cape Coral residents have another option – enjoying a serenade by a local barbershop quartet.
The Cape Chorale, the area's barbershop chorus, will send out five quartets on Valentine's Day and the day before to deliver Singing Valentines to locations throughout the county. Along with getting to hear a few love songs sung in barbershop style, the recipients will receive a card, a heart-shaped box full of chocolates, and a rose from Cape Coral Floral Designs. The chorale could use local Print companies to produce the Valentine's Day cards.
The quartets are flexible about the locations for the Singing Valentines. Quartets can appear at people's homes, in restaurants during a Valentine's Day dinner, or at a hotel.
Speaking to the Cape Coral Daily Breeze, the chairman for the Singing Valentines program, John Wickes, said that the organization planned on taking no more than 120 reservations and that, at the end of January, the program was about a quarter full. The Chorale will take reservations until the program is full, or until February 13.
The Singing Valentines cost $50 and can be booked by calling 1-855-425-363. Part of the proceeds from the Valentines goes towards Lee Memorial Hospital's Pediatric Speech Therapy Unit. Over the course of two decades, the program has brought in more than $30,000 for charities.Get a Free Quote for Print
