The police department in Cape Coral, Florida will hold a meeting this February to discuss which students should be honored for its ‘Do The Right Thing’ program.
Do The Right Thing is a monthly program that rewards students for remarkable and inspirational acts. The youth in Cape Coral who perform selfless deeds like assisting the elderly with their chores, picking up garbage at parks and beaches, or gathering items to donate to those in need are students that the Cape Coral Police Department believes should receive recognition.
The program helps students in the community form positive relationships with the police department and is a chance for the residents of Cape Coral to see that their local youth are both morally responsible and worthy of being recognized on the news. One of the main goals of the program is to reinforce good behavior while building the self-esteem of local students.
Every student who is nominated for the Do The Right Thing program is considered a winner, receiving various prizes like trophies and gift cards from businesses in the community. A small portion of the entries will be selected to be honored publicly during the meetings, where the Cape Coral Police Department will utilize printing services to give out certificates and awards.
The meeting will be held on February 20th and will last from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Any Cape Coral residents who would like to nominate students for their actions can submit a form on the police department’s website.
