Cape Coral woman takes home sweepstakes prize

Many people enter sweepstakes with little expectation that they will actually win, such as Kari Ann Frazier, a resident of Cape Coral, when she participated in Direct Auto & Life Insurance's referral sweepstakes.

Instead, Frazier ended up winning the grand prize, $2,500 worth of WalMart gift cards. She plans on using the cards to pay for gas and food and for school clothing for her children and grandson.

Frazier was one of more than 1,000 people who entered the random-drawing sweepstakes. The contest was open to residents across the state of Florida. Current customers of Direct Auto & Life Insurance who referred a family member or friend to the company was entered into the contest. Along with the grand $2,500 prize, there were random drawings for a weekly $250 prize.

Companies that hold sweepstakes can use flyer printing to explain the rules and encourage people to enter.

Speaking to the Cape Coral Daily Breeze, Frazier stated that she was "excited, very excited" when her name was picked. The gift cards will help her family a lot.

Frazier, her children and other family members celebrated her win at the insurance company's branch on Del Prado Boulevard. The company presented her with a giant check and had snacks on hand for the family.

Steven Ward, the district sales manager for the insurance company, said:

"I'm ecstatic that our branch had the final winner."
