Residents of Cape Coral will have the opportunity to search their city high and low, all in the name of a good cause.
Later this month, a citywide scavenger hunt will take place. Donations received from participating residents and businesses will go towards helping area single parents and their kids.
The founder of A Mom's Helping Hand of SWFL, Kristen Schaufler, noted that she got the idea for the scavenger hunt after seeing several similar activities taking place on the West Coast. The proceeds from the hunt will go to A Mom's Helping Hand, which provides birthday Boxes and household goods to single mothers, as well as a support group for moms.
Organizations putting together charity events can use flyer printing to spread the word and to encourage people to sign up to participate.
So far, four teams have signed up to participate in the scavenger hunt. Schaufler and the other organizers are hoping that at least 15 teams will sign up.
A number of area businesses are on board as well. So far, 15 businesses in Cape Coral have agreed to take part. During the hunt, teams will visit participating businesses to get a challenge or a clue.
Registration for the scavenger hunt is $15 per person or $40 for a team of up to five people. Businesses that want to join in need to pay $50.
The hunt is schedule for 1:00 to 4:00 pm on March 11. A free lunch will be offered.
