Cape Coral to host hangout session

The Family Initiative Inc., an autism support center based in Cape Coral, will host a teen hangout group session this May.

The event is a part of a six-week cycle being held, which begins in April and concludes in May. It aims to bring adolescents who lie on the autism spectrum to a safe space where they can engage with others who are similarly placed.

There will be educational and engaging activities for attendees, and the event will work on building various social skills with them through these activities. Children can share their challenges and triumphs with their peers, a process organizers intend to use to develop other peer-engagement scenarios. These will operate on research-based principles to target specific weak areas.

The support center will also work closely with families to educate them on strategies that can help with autism management.

The cost for admission is $120, which covers the full six weeks of the sessions. Interested patrons may sign up on the website. Accommodation is available for families that require it.

Poster printing can be a useful way to create resources for events such as this one.

This hangout session will be held on Wednesday, May 11, beginning at 4:30 pm and ending at 6:30 pm. The center is located at 734 South West 4th St. Cape Coral, Florida 33991.
