To help residents and businesses in Cape Coral prepare for hurricane season, which began at the start of this month, the Cape Coral Fire Department holds a yearly Hurricane Seminar, and this year’s is taking place later this week.
The goal of the event is to give those who live or own a business in the area the information needed to help them get ready for the season ahead.
During the event, people will learn how to respond if there is a hurricane or tropical storm threat in the area, where to get information on the storms and evacuations if needed, and how to safely return to the area after an evacuation. The seminar will also cover the ways that people can avoid unscrupulous contractors after a major storm or hurricane.
Speakers presenting during the seminar will also cover the ways residents can prepare their homes, themselves, and their loved ones for a storm event. Organizers for the seminar can use a printing company to prepare Flyers and information sheets for people to take home with them.
Jim Farrell, the Chief Meteorologist for WINK News, will discuss this year's hurricane forecast, and what to expect from a tropical storm. The event will be hosted by Don Cochran, the fire chief and EM director.
It will take place this Thursday, June 11, starting at 6:30 pm, at Council Chambers, 1015 Cultural Park Blvd.Get a Free Quote for Flyers
