Cape Coral celebrates emergency response volunteers

The Florida Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Association is marking its 20th anniversary by hosting the state conference in Cape Coral.

The Association is dedicated to the training and education of volunteer team members in community emergency and disaster planning and preparation. It provides support and resources to CERT teams through mentoring by firefighters, law enforcement and other experienced emergency management officials.

The non-profit association and its more than 175 members, represent over 8000 CERT participants across Florida and work in collaboration with national, state and local organizations such as the Red Cross and the Salvation Army.

According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the CERT program trains its teams in:
“basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations."

This ensures they are prepared for, and can respond to, earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, fires and more.

In addition to a broad schedule of conference training, awards will be presented to teams and individual volunteers who have demonstrated outstanding service, leadership and contribution to CERT programs. The event will also offer exhibitors a chance to promote their products to CERT managers, trainers and other emergency planning personnel.

Sponsors and presenters at conferences such as this often use business card printing services offered by area printers.

The CERT convention is August 15 to 17, 2024 with pre-conference training August 12 to 14, 2024 at the Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village.
