Music and dance festival comes to Brandon area
Many here in Brandon will be heading the third annual East West Music & Dance Festival coming in mid-February.
The event will bring together dance groups that cross cultural and geographic lines in the common language of dance and song.
Presented by Shruti Foundation Tampa, this family-friendly event will be a day of live bands, food, multi-cultural dance groups, a kids’ play area, and merchandise vendors. Over 100 performers will be at this one-of-a-kind event.
The event will open with a speech at 1:00 pm. From 1:00 to 1:30 pm, guests will be treated to Bihu Folk dance, and two folk and Bollywood dance performances. From 1:30 to 2:30 pm, a performance of Africa Meets India will showcase Morikeba Kouyate & Friends. An Indian Bharatnatyam dance group will take the stage from 2:30 to 3:00 pm, and a Latin salsa band will follow from 3:00 to 4:00 pm. That will be followed by a flamenco dance company and a student ensemble for Shruti School of Music.
Indian folk artists and Bollywood dancers, sunset yoga, rhythm ensemble, belly dancers, and a jazz band will complete the festival line-up.
With all the colorful attire, stationery printers like to use pictures of events like this for their multicultural notecard sets.
The East West Music & Dance Festival is scheduled for Sunday, February 19 from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Water Works Park, 1701 North Highland Avenue, Tampa.
