Brandon church to host volleyball clinic

Kids in the Brandon area have an opportunity to grow their athletic skills in a five-day coaching clinic. This event is sponsored by the Tampa Bay HEAT (Home Education Activities Teams) organization.

The 16th Annual Tampa Bay HEAT Summer Volleyball Camps for boys and girls will provide area young people a chance to hone their volleyball skills. This clinic is open to kids ages 8 through 18. On the first day, players will be assigned to either beginner, intermediate, or advanced skill level.

The head coach is Fernando Saavedra, who played for the Bolivian FIVB professional beach volleyball team in 1998 and also for Bolivia’s national team from 1997 to 2000. He has coached volleyball since 2001. Other coaches include Brad and Alissa Jergensen, each of whom have considerable coaching expertise. Brad is in his 8th season of varsity high school volleyball coaching. Alissa has played volleyball since high school and graduated from Utah Valley University with a degree in health education.

This volleyball clinic will occur over July 7 through July 11 and will be held at the New Hope United Methodist Church at 213 North Knights Avenue in Brandon. The event will run each day from 10:00 AM through 2:15 PM. The fee is $115 for HEAT members and $135 for non-members. Organizers may rely on poster printing or other printing services to publicize an event such as this.
