Local park provides venue for fun food outing
Brandon residents have only a short drive required to enjoy great family food and fun.
The Tampa Mayor’s Food Truck Fiesta is a family-friendly event that will be held in early June. Local vendors such as The Wright Kinda BBQ, The Nacho Wagon, Casablanca Fusion, and Island Frydays Catering serve customers various cuisine offerings in an outdoor setting.
The Mayor’s Food Truck Fiesta is sponsored by the office of Tampa’s mayor, Jane Castor, and is organized by the Tampa Downtown Partnership. She was elected mayor of Tampa in 2019. Before her work as mayor, Castor distinguished herself as Tampa’s first female Chief of Police, serving in the department for 31 years. Providing community services and workplace development have been some of Castor’s priorities as mayor.
The event lasts three hours, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The June 4 event will be held at Lykes Gaslight Square Park, an urban park featuring scenic landscaping, shaded seating, memorable walking paths, and gas lamps that pay tribute to the lighting that once graced Tampa’s streets. The park is friendly to pets, although owners are required to use leashes.
