What's Happening in Brandon, FL…

Local holiday season arrives with annual fest and parade

Brandon children and their families will be heading for the 2020 39th Annual Santa Fest and Christmas Parade coming in early December.

Over 90 entries featuring the Christmas theme, including dance troops, drum lines, drill teams, bands, and equestrian units, will be marching for one mile through downtown Tampa along with nonprofit and commercial/corporate floats. In the past, spectators have especially enjoyed the magical characters provided by Tampa’s Krewe. Kids will be waiting to see Santa and his elves, who will come at the close of the procession.

After the parade, Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park will open its Santa Fest. The venue will have plenty of Reindeer Games, with bounce houses and crafts for the little ones. Older kids may opt for the rock wall, and all can enjoy the continuous holiday ambiance and entertainment.

Friends of Tampa Recreations, Inc. will provide the opportunity for guests to get their pictures taken with Santa. Many families that get these pictures taken early enough in the season have the photos sent to local print shops for duplicates to include in holiday family letters.

Santa Fest and Christmas Parade will take place on Saturday, December 5 from noon until 4:00 pm. The parade will be along Tampa Riverwalk and the fest will be in Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, 600 N. Ashley Drive, Tampa.
