Event kicks off a month of Hispanic heritage celebrations

The Tampa Hispanic Heritage Kick Off is taking place in September

It will start off a month of events. It is hosted by the Celebra Tu Herencia Festival, Ybor City Saturday Market, and Tampa Hispanic Heritage.

The event will be opened by Mayor Bob Buckhorn, who will deliver the official proclamation. The day will be filled with food for sale, musical performances, free samples, and dancing. The Arroz con Pollo (rice with chicken) cooking competition will offer cash prizes and plaques.

Arts and crafts vendors will be on hand to sell a variety of unique items, including handmade jewelry, artworks, pottery, clothing, and home decor.

This year's Hispanic Cultural Ambassador will also be announced at this event. Entrants had to write an essay to say why they deserved the title. Cash prizes are given to the chosen ambassador ($700), first delegate ($500), and second delegate ($300). Event posters will also be available for sale after being autographed by the artist.

Interested families from all over the area, including Brandon, are sure to want to attend this one-day festival kick off. Local printing companies may be asked to provide flyers to spread the word.

The Tampa Hispanic Heritage Kick Off will be held at Centennial Park on September 12 from 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Visit the festival website for more information.
