Community Roundtable matches volunteers to nonprofit organizations
Community Roundtable helped residents of Brandon and surrounding areas find their niche in volunteering at the end of last month.
The all-volunteer organization, created the Community Service Forum in 2013. The meetings are held twice a year. The previous forum, on October 29, matched a couple hundred volunteers with two dozen organizations that were soliciting volunteers at all levels.
Volunteers attending these events range from students who need to fulfill community service requirements, to senior citizens who are looking for things to do to give back to the community.
With volunteering also being a way to network with and meet other professionals in a casual setting, attendees may want to keep custom business cards on hand just in case the opportunity comes along to speak with other professionals and forge future career opportunities.
Various nonprofit organizations can join Community Roundtable for a yearly fee, which affords the organization the exposure it needs to keep its volunteer needs staffed. This fee allows the group to post events on its website, and these are often categorized to help volunteers find the perfect match whether they are looking for educational, sports, or animal rescue events.
During the events, the organizations seeking volunteers will set up booths and attendees can meet with representatives to answer any questions they may have, and pick up some brochures to read about what these organizations goals and missions are.
