Brandon travels the USA
The Roundtable Charities of Greater Brandon will be hosting its annual Fourth of July Parade again this year. This year’s theme is Traveling the USA.
At what is considered Florida’s largest Independence Day parade, judging will be done in 10 categories: musical marchers, decorated vehicle, best krewe, amateur and professional floats, youth cheerleaders, unusual vehicle, musical vocal, amateur performance, and marching unit.
Other entries will include car clubs, fire and police departments, horse groups, military units, and military vehicles.
Due to safety concerns, candy or trinkets will not be tossed from the moving vehicles. However, many parade entries will have people passing out these items along the route.
Units will have one minute to perform before the judges at the reviewing stand. Many are busily getting that last minute banner printing done to have banners ready to introduce themselves to the crowd.
Spectators are invited to bring water, sunglasses, suntan lotion, and folding chairs as they line the streets along the route. Some may want wear or tote Fourth of July promotional products such as hats, shirts, and other red-white-and-blue paraphernalia.
The parade is expected to run three hours and will step off at the corner of Lumsden Road and Parsons Avenue. Marchers will go north to Robertson Street and turn west ending at Buckingham Place.
The 2018 Brandon Fourth of July Parade will be July 4 beginning at 10:00 am.
