What's Happening in Brandon, FL…

Brandon to pull out all the stops for the 4th

To produce a 4th of July extravaganza takes an immense amount of planning and since this year's celebration, Catch the Spirit & Celebrate America, promises to be better than ever, plans are already well underway for a parade and festival.

Presenting this year's parade will be the newly formed Greater Brandon Action Network. The parade is expected to feature traditional entries such a bands, marching units, floats, and horse brigades, with the addition of newer ones to be mentioned at a later date.

Parade entries often get banner printing done beforehand to have signs preceding them in order to introduce them to the spectators.

Brandon's 4th of July Parade will step off at 10:00 am and finish around noon. The final route will be posted in June.

After the parade, the festival will begin. Some highlights will be a pet parade, live entertainment, a costume contest, inflatables, a petting zoo, and an antique car show. Many boys and girls will be competing in the Little Mr. and Miss Firecracker contest. The Florida Conservation Coalition will be sponsoring adult and youth watermelon-eating contests.

Crafters will be selling their original works, local associations will have displays, and there will be plenty of food and beverage vendors. A patriotic drone show will begin at 9:00 pm.

The 4th of July activities will be from 1:00 to 10:00 pm at the Hillsborough County Fairgrounds, 215 Sydney Washer Road, Dover.
